No Temptations Greater Than You Can Bear

1 Corinthians 10:13 The only temptations that you have are the same temptations that all people have. But you can trust God. He will not let you be tempted more than you can bear. But when you are tempted, God will also give you a way to escape that temptation. Then you will be able to endure it.

Is there one area of your life, one chink in your armour, where the devil seems to be able to defeat you pretty much each and every time? And you kind of sit there wondering, “How am I ever going to win this battle?”

Let’s be honest, we all struggle with sin. Somehow, each one of us has that one Achilles heel, that one temptation, that one sin where we’re vulnerable. And doesn’t the devil know it!

He waits for just the right time: when you’re tired, when you’re distracted, when you’re under pressure, when you haven’t prayed or opened your Bible for a few days, and then … whammo! He swoops in and strikes. The result? We succumb to temptation, we stumble, we suffer guilt and condemnation … we want to run and hide from God, just as Adam and Eve did.

What’s you’re Achilles heel of temptation and sin? What are you struggling with? Are you wondering what you can possibly do to overcome it?

Well now, here’s a powerful promise from God.

1 Corinthians 10:13 The only temptations that you have are the same temptations that all people have. But you can trust God. He will not let you be tempted more than you can bear. But when you are tempted, God will also give you a way to escape that temptation. Then you will be able to endure it.

So, whatever your Achilles heel happens to be, the Lord your God will never allow you to be tempted beyond your ability to withstand the temptation. And He will always provide you with a way out. That’s God’s promise to you. He will always be there to help you overcome the temptation. So stop acting like someone who’s been defeated, pray with power, and start acting like someone who has complete victory over the devil.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
