Not Trendy, Just True

Acts 4:11-12 Jesus is 'the stone that you builders thought was not important. But this stone has become the cornerstone.' Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through him!

There are a lot of different designer religions out there these days. A little bit of this, a little bit of that and hey presto, I have my own set of religious beliefs that fit my lifestyle perfectly!

Increasingly, the society in which we live is becoming pluralistic. The mantra of our times is “Your truth is your truth; my truth is my truth. As long as it works for each of us, who cares? So, don’t try to shove your truth down my throat.”

This idea of relative truth, situational truth, is of course, patently ridiculous. Imagine if you went to the doctor with a headache, and after doing the tests, he informed you that you had a brain tumour. “Oh no doc, give me some pain killers and I’ll be fine.”

What would you expect the doctor to say? “Sure, no problems. Here’s your prescription. Take those for three days and you’ll be fine”? That’d be crazy, right? And that’s why the idea of two conflicting truths being fine remains, a completely ridiculous proposition. That’s why, these days, it’s not politically correct to say Jesus is the only way to eternal life. It’s just not trendy.

Acts 4:11-12 Jesus is ‘the stone that you builders thought was not important. But this stone has become the cornerstone.’ Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through him!

Trends come and go. Ways of thinking, ideas about faith and religion, they come and go. But amidst all that, God remains God. He loves me. He loves you. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us, so that we could have a relationship with Him.

Jesus is the only way. I know it’s not trendy. It’s just … true.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
