Nothing Left to Chance

Proverbs 16:33 People might throw lots to make a decision, but the answer always comes from the LORD.

Those unpredictable things that happen in life, those unexpected twists and turns, can I ask you, how exactly do they fit with the plans that God has for you?

Sometimes, it seems that chance plays a huge part in our lives. When somethingā€™s completely outside our control, if it falls this way, itā€™ll be okay, but if it falls the other way ā€¦ wooh! Iā€™m in serious trouble.

ā€œWell, itā€™s in the lap of the gods,ā€ you hear people say. ā€œItā€™s the luck of the draw.ā€ It seems that life is a combination of things that we can do for ourselves, things that are pretty well under our control, things with predictable outcomes (or so it seems) and a series of apparently random, unpredictable, uncontrollable events. Thatā€™s life.

Well, I guess thatā€™s one way of looking at things. Hereā€™s another:

Proverbs 16:33 People might throw lots to make a decision, but the answer always comes from the LORD.

If God created the whole universe, the trillions upon trillions of stars, the amazing creatures on this planet, the completely amazing likes of you and me, if thatā€™s truly who He is, wouldnā€™t you expect Him to be in control of everything?

As I look back on my life, at those apparently random things that happened, even the ones that didnā€™t go the way I wanted them to, in most cases, I can see how God took each one of them and used them for His purposes. I can see a God who never took His eye off the ball; a God who left nothing, absolutely nothing, to chance.

We may well think itā€™s all about chance, we may throw lots to make our decisions, but the answer always comes from the Lord.

God leaves nothing to chance.

Thatā€™s Godā€™s Word. Fresh ā€¦ for you ā€¦ today.
