O Death, Where is Your Victory

1 Corinthians 15:54-58 So this body that ruins will clothe itself with that which never ruins. And this body that dies will clothe itself with that which never dies. When this happens, the Scriptures will be made true: “Death is swallowed in victory. O death, where is your victory? Where is your power to hurt?” Death’s power to hurt is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But we thank God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! So, my dear brothers and sisters, stand strong. Don’t let anything change you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord. You know that your work in the Lord is never wasted.

This world is full of aches and pains – in our relationships, in our hearts … and hey, even in the old body as it heads towards its inevitable end. In short, things sometimes hurt – emotionally and physically.

I’m sure you’ve been through times in your life (maybe you’re going through one right at the moment) where everything feels as though it’s on a downward slide. Now, more often than not, it only lasts for a while and we pull out of it. But eventually, as you age, it can get the better of you. Perhaps, in the end, the grave is all there is.

Well, maybe it is … unless of course, you believe in Jesus.

So, if and when you have that sense of being on a downward slide, know this: when you put your faith in Jesus, an eternal victory over death is waiting for you. So, my friend, stand strong. In all that you do, do it for the Lord. It’ll never be wasted.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
