Pleasing God

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. (NRSV)

Perhaps you’re someone who wants to please God, but (and I’m sure you’ve noticed this) it ain’t always that easy. So … how do you lay a solid foundation to achieve that; to actually live a life that pleases God?

So often our bad behaviour, our sin, isolates us from reality. You fall into that one temptation yet again … and it feels as though you’re the only one. Well, let’s get a revelation today. You’re not the only one.

It happens to anyone and everyone who sets their hearts to following Jesus. It happened to the Apostle Paul, who once wrote – I don’t understand why I act the way I do. I don’t do the good I want to do, and I do the evil I hate. (Romans 7:15)

The question is … how do we change that? How do we stop doing the evil we hate and start doing the good that we want to do? Well, it all begins deep inside, in our hearts.

Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. (NRSV)

The things you meditate on are the things that you’ll end up speaking and doing. And here, the psalmist is expressing a deep yearning to God for both his thoughts and his words to be acceptable to his Lord, who is his rock and redeemer.

How often do you pray that? How often do you go to God, and with all that you are, pray like this?

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

Invite God to help you live a godly life.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
