Power, Not Talk
1 Corinthians 4:20 God’s kingdom is not seen in talk but in power.
We seem to live in an age when an endless stream of words floods our consciousness ad nauseam – 24-hour news channels, an unrelenting deluge of social media posts, more streaming services than we can count, millions of podcasts, endless opinions. Everyone’s talking; few are transforming. And therein lies the problem: saying the right things about faith isn’t the same as living them out in the power of God.
Back in the 18th century, John Wesley was already an ordained minister – eloquent, disciplined, admired. But deep down, he knew something was missing. Then, one night in Aldersgate Street, he felt his heart “strangely warmed.” For the first time, he encountered the living Christ – not theology, not theory, but power. That moment ignited the Methodist revival, transforming millions of lives.
And that’s precisely what the Apostle Paul was talking about when he wrote to the believers in Corinth – a church proud of its teachers, arguments and eloquence, yet divided and spiritually weak.

The kingdom of God isn’t about impressive words or polished appearances. It’s about the unmistakable power of the Holy Spirit – changing hearts, healing relationships, breaking sin’s grip, and bringing life where there was none.
So today, ask yourself this: is my faith just talk – or has God’s power truly changed me?
Because when the Spirit of Christ lives in you, your life doesn’t just speak the gospel – it shows it. And that’s the kind of power this world can’t ignore. In fact, it’s precisely the sort of power it needs.
