Putting First Things First

Matthew 22:34-40 ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbour the same as you love yourself.’ All of the law and the writings of the prophets take their meaning from these two commands.

In this crazy-busy world in which we live, prioritising all the things that we have to do can be quite a challenge. And yet, deciding what to do next, has a huge impact on the sort of life that you’re going to live.

When you have more on your to-do list than you can possibly get done in one day, which items do you choose to do, and which ones do you leave for another day?

Deciding what to do next is probably one of the most important skills in life. Because each life – yours, mine – is built one decision, one action at a time. Make more good decisions than bad ones, and eventually you’re doing to build a stunning life. Of course, the reverse also applies.

So how do you make good decisions? What’s your litmus test for deciding what to do next and how to do it? On your to-do list for today, what’s the most important thing for you to do?

Jesus was once asked that very question: What’s the most important thing for me to do? This is how He answered:

Matthew 22:37-40 ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbour the same as you love yourself.’ All of the law and the writings of the prophets take their meaning from these two commands.

Imagine just for a moment, if you applied those two tests to each decision you make. Does this thing that I’m about to do demonstrate my complete love for God? Does it demonstrate my love toward my neighbour? Just imagine prioritising your to-do list through this Jesus filter. Imagine!

What sort of a life would you be building then?

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Thank you for your faithfulness, by you keep sharing God’s truth everyday, you are changing people’s lives for good! God’s Word is changing me. Only yesterday, rather than getting angry with the driver in front of me who cut me up. I prayed a blessing over them. This happened three times in my journey. Thank you and God Bless all who read this.

Mr. Dymet Sir and the people of Christianityworks, my gratitude for feeding us daily our daily bread from the Master. It is true that life can be overwhelming and many times i find myself hungering for food to strengthen my soul and nourish my body…and with the plethora of self-help, miracle menus being peddled in the market place of ideas it is indeed difficult to choose what is really food that nourishes and sustains… your ministry has done me good and i daresay many, many people. Please continue giving us real food for the soul. GOD bless you abundantly, in the mighty name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, AMEN!!! I am Respectfully yours
