Remember the Good Times

Isaiah 25:1 LORD, you are my God. I honour you and praise your name, because you did amazing things. The words you said long ago are completely true; everything happened exactly as you said it would.

In the darker, more difficult patches we seem to travel through in life, it’s easy to forget the bright, warm, sunny days back there somewhere. It’s easy to allow doom and gloom to get the better of you.

I read something the other day that gave me a bit of a jolt: So far, you’ve survived 100% of the difficult days in your life. You’re doing just fine.

And when you think about it, that’s absolutely correct. But then … if you’re going through one of those doom and gloom times (and I’m not being judgemental by putting it that way – we all have things happen in life that get us down) it’s a statement that doesn’t inspire all that much confidence.

After all, what if today is the day that we don’t make it through?

Maybe you’re going through one of those patches at the moment, or maybe you’ve just come out of one … or maybe, just maybe, there’s one just around the next corner that you’re not even aware of.

Wherever things are at for you, here’s a statement that will inspire confidence:

Isaiah 25:1 LORD, you are my God. I honour you and praise your name, because you did amazing things. The words you said long ago are completely true; everything happened exactly as you said it would.

Think back … when was the last time that God showed up during a difficult stretch? Do you remember? How were you feeling? How did things play out? How did God get you through? How surprised were you when you saw how He dealt with it all?

Bad times turned into good times, didn’t they?  Because your Father in Heaven did amazing things!

He loves you more than words can say. So on your dark days, remember those times when your God did those amazing things!

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Your daily devotions are very helpful because they tell everyone who reads or listens to them that God is real, Jesus died to save us from our sins and the Holy Spirit works to intercede for us in our prayers to God. All people need to seek to know Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord of their lives.
