Respecting Women
1 Peter 3:7 In the same way, you husbands should live with your wives in an understanding way, since they are weaker than you. You should show them respect, because God gives them the same blessing he gives you—the grace of true life. Do this so that nothing will stop your prayers from being heard.
With all the sexual abuse scandals in the news and the #metoo movement in full swing, the thing that staggers me is how widespread the abuse of women actually is. Not just in the home with domestic violence, which is in itself shocking, but hiding in plain sight in the workplace. Staggering!
The status and relationship between men and women has changed enormously over my lifetime which, for the most part, has been a very good thing. And it’s something that continues to evolve, particularly in places where women are still oppressed which seems to happen much closer to home than we would like to think.
Even in so-called advanced economies, the rates of domestic violence and workplace abuse are staggering. There’s simply no excuse for that. None whatsoever. And if you’re a woman who is being abused, you need to take action to break the cycle now. Unless you do, it’s only going to get worse. Begin by telling someone about it and getting it out in the open.
And if you’re a man, especially a husband, listen up. It’s time for some straight talking here.

Women are, for the most part, physically not as strong as men, although emotionally I often think they’re much stronger. And women bring a perspective to a home and indeed a workplace that is typically so emotionally wise and sensitive.
So, men, whatever women you have in your life, show them respect. Cherish them. Honour them. Bless them. There is simply no place for anything less. Got it?
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
