Splash of Colour

Psalm 52:8 But I am like a green olive tree growing in God’s Temple. I will trust God’s faithful love forever and ever.

I’m old enough to remember black-and-white television. It’s what I grew up with. But then one day I saw my first colour TV in a shop window. I was completely mesmerised. Up until that point, I had no idea what I was missing.

I saw a beautiful photo the other day. It was a black-and-white close up of a bush in a garden. And on it, there was a beautiful bright orange butterfly – this exquisite splash of colour on that black-and-white background. It’s a picture that I look at again and again because it speaks to me in the most incredible way.

Before Jesus, I had an okay sort of a life I thought. And yet looking back on it now, I can see that it was kind of like the black-and-white background of that photo.

But the day that Jesus walked into my life, an exquisite splash of colour landed right in the middle of my landscape. No, that’s not quite right. It landed right in the middle of me; who I am, how I see the world, what I think about the future. This vivid splash of colour lit up my heart, my very being, my flat, monochrome life.

And that sense of wonder and awe, of light and colour, has never left me. Does that make sense? What was once dead inside came to life.

King David put it slightly differently:

Psalm 52:8
But I am like a green olive tree growing in God’s Temple. I will trust God’s faithful love forever and ever.

That’s what happens when Jesus becomes your all-in-all. And no matter where you are along the journey of your life, no matter how flat or monochrome or lifeless the present or the future may seem, life … rich, abundant, vibrant life … awaits you.

The answer is Jesus.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Good day. Thanks for the daily devotions I receive and after reading this I realised that since I accepted Jesus as my Lord and saviour my life was turned around. Before I would do everything and anything for me and my family and not being bothered by what others had, but now what ever I do is for God’s glory because I’m able to think and do for others. That was not minding my business but I realised that I was being selfish and not loving a fellow brother. Glory be to God Almighty.

OUTSTANDING and always very helpful. Bernie continues to be as valuable today as he was when I first heard him on radio in Connecticut USA, back I believe 12 or 13 years ago.
Many thanks to all in your ministry. You are a blessing to me and all who I’ve told about your efforts.

Thanks Berni, for sharing 😊
I believe but I could be wrong of course but, that butterfly appears to be a monarch butterfly and it’s so beautiful and vibrant and did you know Berni, that the monarch butterfly only lives for 6 weeks and that it’s vibrant and very rich colouring is a deterrent to predators because it is poisonous.
Predators attack at your own risk!
You’re right Jesus Christ brings colour and life to us on the inside and although we cannot change the will of man and man will not always be for us but when God is for us , who dare be against us.
Jesus is our protector He intercedes in our daily lives and predators attack at their own risk!
Jesus brings colour and life because he is the light of the world and He is life and life is love, for God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ so that through Jesus we can have a relationship with Him,
Jesus is our one and only true medium , our gateway to heaven and to hearing the word of God clearly . Just like the electrician knows which leads are for what and the great pianist knows which keys make the correct note . Through Jesus we learn to know and to explicitly hear God’s voice through His word and in complete alignment with His word . It takes diligence and obedience and patience and the heart of David and the love of John and the wisdom of Daniel and the EAR OF SAMUEL. God is 3 in 1 He is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. That butterfly is a creation of Gods too and so are each of us, that butterfly has a purpose and perhaps it’s just that amongst another purpose but to bring life to colour .
Our purpose is to use our will for Gods will and the human will is strong and we must be disciplined in Gods word.
Zeal for Jesus , like Peter.
The boldness of Paul and the meekness of Moses and the Faith of Abraham .
In Jesus name Amen and 🙏
