The Feeling is Gone

Philippians 1:6 I am sure that the good work God began in you will continue until he completes it on the day when Jesus Christ comes again.

At what point is God done with us? At what point is His work in us finished? Is it possible that somewhere along the way He’s given up on us? Is it possible that there’s nothing more on the horizon?

Have you ever felt as though God may have given up on you? You started off believing with all your heart. Perhaps you even felt that sense of euphoria, as I did, in the weeks and months after you gave your life to Jesus.

But at some point drudgery sets in. It’s like any new relationship, I guess. There’s that initial “romance” and enthusiasm and that naïve belief that this feeling is going to last forever … only for us to come crashing down to earth with a thud when reality sets in.

And then we get this strange sense that God’s given up on us. That He’s done with us. That maybe, it wasn’t real in the first place. Have you been there?

Philippians 1:6 I am sure that the good work God began in you will continue until he completes it on the day when Jesus Christ comes again.

I’m here to tell you that God isn’t done with you yet. He has a mighty plan for your life and no matter how grey the drudgery feels, He is going to finish off that good work that He began in you all that time ago.

Look, if it were all up to us to get ourselves through to the end, that’d be hopeless. We wouldn’t make it.

But whether you realise it or not, God is at work in you, through you, around you … finishing off the good work that He began in you.

And He ain’t done with you yet. Not by a long shot!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
