The Graph
1 John 5:13 I write this letter to you who believe in the Son of God. I write so that you will know that you have eternal life now.
Right now, today, you have a finite number of days left on this planet. Sobering thought. So might I ask you, how are you going to use that time?
The Stock Market is a strange animal. Shares go up and down, often defying logic and completely ignoring the underlying fundamentals of a company’s financial performance. So one of the things you learn in playing the investment game, is the importance of graphs.
If you focus just on the movement of a stock over the last day or week, what you get is a short-term view. But if you look at that same stock’s performance, graphed over six months, or a year or two, that gives you a whole different perspective. It’s the bigger picture, the longer-term trend, which is so vitally important in making any investment decision.
I wonder whether, in life, we don’t spend most of our time looking at the short-term graphs. Reacting to the things going on right now. And yet, anyone who takes the trouble to stand back, to take a longer-term view, discovers that in the scheme of things, life here on this earth is volatile in the day to day, and fleetingly short, in the context of eternity.
So allow me to interrupt your day, with a longer-term view:
1 John 5:13 I write this letter to you who believe in the Son of God. I write so that you will know that you have eternal life now.
Eternal life. That’s the big picture. And that longer-term view is so vitally important in deciding what you’re going to invest the rest of your life in.
So let me ask you, if you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, what are you going to invest your energies, your time, your skills and resources in?
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
