The Most Difficult Person You’ll Ever Meet

Matthew 7:1-5 Don’t judge others, and God will not judge you. If you judge others, you will be judged the same way you judge them. God will treat you the same way you treat others. “Why do you notice the small piece of dust that is in your friend’s eye, but you don’t notice the big piece of wood that is in your own? Why do you say to your friend, ‘Let me take that piece of dust out of your eye’? Look at yourself first! You still have that big piece of wood in your own eye. You are a hypocrite! First, take the wood out of your own eye. Then you will see clearly to get the dust out of your friend’s eye.

Okay, so life isn’t always all that it’s cracked up to be, and honestly, there are people out there who are going to rob you of your joy and peace, pretty much every time you see them. But as things turn out, it’s not always their fault.

The world is full of difficult people, to be sure. There are so many of them out there, it can be a real pain sometimes. We all have difficult people in our lives. You do, I do. And when things aren’t going the way they should be, we like to blame them for all our woes. But today I’d like to introduce you to the most difficult person you’ll ever meet.

Are you ready? Okay. Look in the mirror. There, right there in front of you, is the most difficult person in your life. You. Because you have to live with you, 24/7; all your foibles, your insecurities, your fears, your selfishness. And whilst it’s easy to blame everyone else for our problems, it’s much harder to take responsibility for our contribution to those problems. Jesus put it this way:

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
