The Power of Your Sacrifice

John 15:13 The greatest love people can show is to die for their friends.

None of us likes to suffer. That’s completely natural. But given all that we read in the Bible, given what Jesus did for us, why is it that we’ve become so squeamish about suffering for the sake of the Gospel? Hmm?

Nothing so testifies to the truth and the power of the risen Christ than a believer, a disciple, who’s prepared to sacrifice their life for the sake of sharing that good news with another.

So far as we know, each of the remaining twelve Disciples died the grizzly death of a martyr because they insisted on proclaiming the risen Christ. And to me, this is the most powerful proof of all that Jesus truly is the Son of God.

They were there. They knew whether or not Jesus had risen from the dead, and they testified to the truth and the power of the risen Christ, with their very lives.

I cannot begin to imagine that these twelve men would have been prepared to lay down their lives for a lie?

When you and I make sacrifices, put up with derision and abuse, in order to live out the truth and the power of the risen Christ, then just like those early disciples, our sacrifices are the most powerful testimony, to the truth of the Gospel that any person walking the earth today will ever encounter.

John 15:13 The greatest love people can show is to die for their friends.

It’s funny how weak-kneed we can become when we have to suffer a bit for the Gospel, when right at this very moment, there are people around the world literally dying because of their faith in Jesus.

Don’t be afraid of a bit of suffering for the sake of the Gospel. It’s one of the most powerful ways that Jesus works, to bring the lost to Himself through us.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
