The Power of Your Witness

Romans 10:12-17 … “everyone who trusts in the Lord will be saved.” But before people can pray to the Lord for help, they must believe in him. And before they can believe in the Lord, they must hear about him. And for anyone to hear about the Lord, someone must tell them. And before anyone can go and tell them, they must be sent. As the Scriptures say, “How wonderful it is to see someone coming to tell good news!” … So faith comes from hearing the Good News. And people hear the Good News when someone tells them about Christ.

A lot of people who call themselves Christians are shy about telling others about Jesus. I’m not quite sure why that’s true, but it is. When was the last time you told someone about Jesus?

In this crazy world in which we live, where so many people’s lives are a mess. Can a single person – someone let’s say – like you … really make a positive difference? Really?

The only reason I’m here with you today, is that some years back, some friends of mine told me about Jesus. Now, that was a gutsy move on their part. I was so anti-Christian, I can’t begin to tell you. And yet at a difficult time in my life, they did two things. They stepped in to help me and at the same time they told me about Jesus.

Words alone are cheap. But at the time I needed help, they were witnesses to the love and the power of Jesus, through what they did and what they said. That is such a powerful combination. Showing and telling. Their witness, saved my life.

I wonder whose life God is planning to save through your witness?

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
