The Year of the Lord’s Favour

Luke 4:18,19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”

So let me ask you, do you believe that the favour of God is on your life? With all that you have going on right at the moment, is that something that you can believe, or not?

Sometimes it can seem as though the whole world is against you. Every had that feeling? I certainly have, and it’s not nice I can tell you.

If only there were someone on my side. If only there were someone who would cut me some slack. If only there were someone …

Luke 4:18,19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.” (NRSV)

Of the things that Jesus said right at the outset of His public ministry, of the reasons that He gave for coming to this earth in the first place, one of those was to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour – in other words, to tell you and me that when we have a relationship with Him, when we put our trust in Him and believe in Him, the favour of God is upon us. Stop, take a deep breath, and let that sink in. The favour of God is upon you.

That doesn’t mean that God will always agree with what we do. It doesn’t mean that He’ll run to meet every whim and desire, any more than a good father would do that for a young child.

But just like a good father, the best Father, His heart is to bless you. God is on your side.

Now that’s what I call Good News!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

It’s very good to be well informed about the Lord’s favour.

Praise God for His word that has ministered to those of us who have accepted Him as our personal Saviour. He gives us His favour. He doesn’t remove us from some occurrences, but grants His grace and mercy to overcome and prosper. In my life I have never seen the righteous forsaken or HIS seed begging for bread.

Dear Berni,
Your messages are so uplifting and inspirational!
They really hit home in my heart because as a young man living in Africa and being surrounded by poverty / mediocrity and witchcraft, I find a bedrock and additional strength to show and declare the gospel of the kingdom around!

If you ever plan to plant a church in West Africa, I am your man. May the God of peace bless and uphold you as well as your family and your team.

Yours truly,
Gnangbo Mathias Sam
