When Prayer Doesn’t Come

Romans 8:26-27 Also, the Spirit helps us. We are very weak, but the Spirit helps us with our weakness. We don’t know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself speaks to God for us. He begs God for us, speaking to him with feelings too deep for words. God already knows our deepest thoughts. And he understands what the Spirit is saying, because the Spirit speaks for his people in the way that agrees with what God wants.

I pray that life’s good for you right now, without too many struggles, with a sense of fulfillment, with hope for your future. Man, I pray that’s the case, but it may not be. And even if it is today, tomorrow could be a different story.

Yep, I pray often for all those who watch, listen to or read these daily Fresh messages around the world.

But let me tell you, there’ve been times in my life when my soul lay battered and bruised on the ground; when the trials of life had so assailed me that I didn’t even have it in me to pray. You’ve been there too, right. And that weakness makes you feel so … inadequate. But listen to this:

Romans 8:26-27 Also, the Spirit helps us. We are very weak, but the Spirit helps us with our weakness. We don’t know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit himself speaks to God for us. He begs God for us, speaking to him with feelings too deep for words. God already knows our deepest thoughts. And he understands what the Spirit is saying, because the Spirit speaks for his people in the way that agrees with what God wants.

God knows what you’re going through and when you’re too weak to pray, His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, will intercede for you in ways you simply cannot imagine.

Sometimes all you can do is just sit there in God’s Presence and know that He is God. In those times that’s more than enough, because the Holy Spirit will beg for you with feelings too deep for words.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
