Where is God?

Luke 5:15,16 But the news about Jesus spread more and more. Many people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. Jesus often went away to other places to be alone so that he could pray.

Relationships often go through cycles of closeness and then drifting apart. It’s true of our human relationships and it’s also true of our relationship with God. So … what do you do when you seem to have drifted away from God?

There are times in life when God seems a million miles away. You know how it goes; life’s hectic, you’re caught up with this and that, putting out fires, commuting to work, running the kids around – whatever it is that keeps you busy.

And one day you wake up and you ask yourself – Hang on, what happened to God? Where’s He gone? Why does it feel as though He’s a million miles away?

Sometimes we panic. Other times we just resign ourselves to an existence that doesn’t involve that closeness, that intimacy, that dialogue that we once had with God. But that’s not the answer is it?

So if there seems to be quite some distance between you and God right now, then I have some good news for you. No matter how it feels, no matter what your perceptions may be, our God is in fact closer to you right now than even the deepest secret of your heart.

Luke 5:15,16 But the news about Jesus spread more and more. Many people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. Jesus often went away to other places to be alone so that he could pray.

Even Jesus was busy. Even He was caught up in this and that, day after day, with the crowds pressing in on Him, the religious leaders testing Him, the plot to assassinate Him thickening.

What was His response? How did He stay close and connected to His Father in Heaven?

Jesus often went away to other places to be alone so that he could pray.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
