Your Own Personal Rehab Plan

2 Corinthians 3:17,18 The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And our faces are not covered. We all show the Lord’s glory, and we are being changed to be like him. This change in us brings more and more glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

You know what bugs me sometimes? It bugs me that God doesn’t deal with all the things wrong in me, the things where I have to grow and learn and change … why He doesn’t just wave a magic wand and fix all those things, instantly?

It can be really discouraging when you continually succumb to sin. You wake up and set out on each new day with the intention of doing good. Really, you do! But somehow, somewhere, sometime, you manage to botch it, again!

God, why can’t you just make me perfect, now, today?! Why do I have to keep mucking things up?

But it turns out that God has a lifetime planned for us to move from who we once were before making Jesus the Lord of our lives, into who we can be in Jesus, day after day.

Did you pick it?

We are being changed to be like him. This change in us brings more and more glory … and that more and more glory thing isn’t something that happens overnight. It takes time. It’s a bit like the rehabilitation that a car accident victim might go through. There’s pain, there are struggles, there are hurdles to overcome for that accident victim, so that they walk again.

Theologians call it “sanctification”. I prefer to think of it more as rehabilitation – as we take each step forward with Jesus, He changes us from glory to glory. When you think about it, it’s not such a bad plan.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
