Your Power to Change the World

Proverbs 4:18 The path of those who live right is like the early morning light. It gets brighter and brighter until the full light of day

To some degree, we all harbour a secret desire to impact this world; to make a positive difference in the lives of those around us. But how do you actually do that in a world that seems intent on tearing itself apart?

The rising tide of conflict is something that’s going on around us every day. On a global scale amongst the super-powers. At a national level in our political systems. At a social level with gender politics and the environment. In families with relationships being torn apart.

Sure, the world’s never been perfect, but it just seems to be getting worse, creeping into every corner of our existence. To me it feels like a darkness that’s enveloping our society and indeed our very lives. It’s not pretty. And frankly, it’s just not a nice way to live, is it?

But come on, what difference can little old you or I possibly make, in the face of this creeping darkness anyway? Well, the answer is, rather a lot.

Proverbs 4:18 The path of those who live right is like the early morning light. It gets brighter and brighter until the full light of day

‘Live right.’ ‘Do good.’ It sounds, well, just a tad simplistic doesn’t it? But when you and I choose, day after day after day, to be kind in the face of nastiness, to be decent and honest in a world where so many are anything but, when we choose simply to follow Jesus difficult though that may be some days, an incredible thing happens.

Your light begins to shine. And like the rising sun, it gets brighter and brighter until this dark world is filled with the full light of day. Friend the light of your humble goodness in Christ has the power to quell the rising darkness; the power to change the world.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Going out amongst the people of my hometown, I wake up and give thanks like how a child would and then I acknowledge The Father, through Christ Jesus, that I am going out there representing Him.
