Flying Blind

Hebrews 11:6 Without faith no one can please God. Whoever comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who sincerely try to find him.

Man, if only God would layout His plans and purposes for us to see, instead of taking us on these wild goose chases, life would be so much easier, wouldn’t it?!

Sometimes it can feel a bit like you’re flying blind. You know, you’re involved in something, it gets difficult and complicated, it’s not headed the way you expected and things aren’t all that clear anymore. Well … “What happens next? Do I sit and wait? Do I go and do something? What? How?”

You try this – it doesn’t work. You try that – it goes nowhere.

All the time, you know deep inside that this is what God is calling you to do, but you just don’t know the next step to take. You’ve been there, right? Me too! I’ve been in that place so often.

Because when God calls us to do something – maybe it’s a relationship, a job, a move, whatever it is – He rarely, if ever, gives us the whole picture up front. Why does God do that? Why doesn’t He just make things plain for us to see? It’d be so much easier, wouldn’t it?

Well, if He did, we wouldn’t need faith, and …

Without faith no one can please God. Whoever comes to God must believe that he is real and that he rewards those who sincerely try to find him. (Hebrews 11:6)

For God, it’s about trust. He wants us to learn to trust Him, and the only way to do that, is for Him to lead us forward without giving us the full picture. What He wants is for us to trust that He can see the full picture, that He has everything under control, that His plans and purposes will work out.

That’s the sort of trust that pleases Him.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
