God’s Blessing is On Its Way

Job 30:26 But when I hoped for good, trouble came instead. When I looked for light, darkness came.

If only life would go the way we wanted it to. If only the good things we have planned for ourselves, would always come to fruition. If only!

I can’t begin to tell you the number of times in my life when I’ve been expecting something really good from God, and what happens instead, is that things just take a turn for the worse. And then … they go from bad to worse.

And you think to yourself, hang on a minute!! If God is good, if He really does love me, doesn’t He want good things to happen to me? Doesn’t He want to bless me? It just doesn’t make sense.

So you cry out to Him for help. “God, I’m really struggling here. I don’t know how to handle this, it’s just too big!” And you think to yourself, “Well, surely now, God is going to help me. He’s going to fix this.”

Sometimes, of course, He does. Other times though, things take yet another nosedive. That’s precisely what happened to Job in the Old Testament. He was a good man, a righteous man we’re told.

Job 30:26 But when I hoped for good, trouble came instead. When I looked for light, darkness came.

That’s life. That’s often the way it goes. So often, when God is up to something good in our lives, He starts doing difficult things, through people, situations, digging around, changing things, upsetting everything. So often, things seem to get worse, before God’s amazing plan finally unfolds.

In the end, we’re told that …

Job 42:10 the LORD made Job successful again. God gave him twice as much as he had before.

So if things appear to be going from bad to worse, wait for it –God’s blessing is on its way.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
