God’s Hand in the Mix

Acts 16:6 Paul and those with him went through the areas of Phrygia and Galatia because the Holy Spirit did not allow them to tell the Good News in the province of Asia.

We all have plans for our lives. And this time of year, let’s be honest, we do a lot of thinking about the future. But sometimes, God’s plans are quite different to ours. Hmm …

Sometimes, things don’t turn out quite the way we had planned. I mean just as you look back over this past year, I’m sure you’ll see some things that you’d planned to go this way, and yet, they turned out completely the opposite.

When that happens, we want to go to God and have a whinge and complain and ask Him, “Why is it that you didn’t make this happen for me? Come on God, why?!”

Sometimes we’ve prayed so earnestly, you and I, for something that we really wanted to happen, for months, even for years … only for it not to turn out the way we’d hope. Well, it’s not just you, it’s not just me.

Acts 16:6 Paul and those with him went through the areas of Phrygia and Galatia because the Holy Spirit did not allow them to tell the Good News in the province of Asia.

So, the Apostle Paul had good and noble plans to head off to minister in Asia and yet, he was forbidden and prevented from doing that by the Holy Spirit, because apparently, God had different plans – plans that suited His purposes, not Paul’s.

And truly, when I look back on some of the things that I’ve asked God for, where He didn’t give me the answer I was looking for, with the benefit of hindsight I can see how much better God’s plan turned out be, even though it didn’t quite feel that way at the time.

When God thwarts your plans, don’t be disappointed, because He has something much, much better in mind.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
