I’m Not Sure

1 John 5:13-15 I write this letter to you who believe in the Son of God. I write so that you will know that you have eternal life now. We can come to God with no doubts. This means that when we ask God for things (and those things agree with what God wants for us), God cares about what we say. He listens to us every time we ask him. So we know that he gives us whatever we ask from him.

Yesterday we prayed a prayer together – a prayer handing our lives over to Jesus – everything we are, everything we have, every hope and every dream. Everything, but … perhaps you’re having second thoughts.

Jesus, yesterday I gave my life to you but to tell you the truth, today I’m not so sure. I woke up in the middle of the night in this cold sweat and I got to thinking, “What have I done?”

I’m not some religious nut. And then I figured … well, if you’re God you already know that. That’s weird, huh?! And God, you know what happens. In my heart of hearts I want you so much but in my head I feel like … well, you know when you wake up and you feel like you’re falling? That’s just how I feel in my head.

I gave you everything – all of my life. And I don’t know what that’s going to mean. So God, I just want to ask you today to do something to make it so that I can believe. I hear these people talk about faith but some days, for me, it’s just not easy. So God, please help me to believe. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We all have doubts from time to time … but here’s the truth.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
