Knowing Jesus

John 15:26 I will send you the Helper from the Father. The Helper is the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father. When he comes, he will tell about me.

It’s a strange idea, a strange concept, to imagine that you can have a relationship with Jesus – someone you can’t see, someone you’ve never met.

There are so many people who believe in Jesus. I mean, they truly believe that He is the Son of God, that He died for them, that He rose again and that through Him, they have eternal life. They believe that. Great! But instead of knowing Jesus for themselves, He’s this far off distant figure – because how do you get to know someone you can’t see, someone you’ve never met?

So, sadly, many Christians, well, they know about Jesus … but they don’t know Him for themselves! It’s like me reading a textbook about my wife, about how wonderful she is and all the things she can do, without ever meeting her for myself. Let alone living the rest of my life with her in an intimate relationship. That’d be crazy wouldn’t it?

But, that’s what many people do with Jesus. And in doing that, they miss out on the amazing love and power of this radical Jesus to completely and utterly transforms their lives. So what’s the answer?

John 15:26 I will send you the Helper from the Father. The Helper is the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father. When he comes, he will tell about me.

He is talking here about the Holy Spirit revealing Jesus, breathing a revelation of Jesus Himself, into us. A firsthand revelation not a second or thirdhand reading of something someone else wrote.

Friend, listen to me. The Holy Spirit is here, now, and He wants to reveal Jesus to you. So that instead of knowing about Him, you would know Him for yourself. All you need to do, is to ask.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
