Let the Light Shine

2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (ESV)

Well, a merry Christmas to you. Wherever you are, however, you’re celebrating it, may the Lord bless you as you remember that He came to this earth to save you from your sin.

Frankly, if you’d told me thirty years ago, that I would be with you now on this Christmas day, chatting with you about Jesus, I’d have told you that you were crazy. Back then, Jesus didn’t mean a thing to me. Christmas was an excuse for a holiday and that was about it.

But things have changed. Look, you and I, we’ve sung enough Christmas carols, seen enough pantomimes, wrapped and unwrapped enough presents, to last us a lifetime. Did we really need to do it all again this year?

My point is, what difference does the coming of Jesus make in our lives? Come on, what day-to-day difference does the birth of Jesus, the Son of God, make in your life? That’s really the question, isn’t it?

For me, it’s night and day:

Before Jesus came into my life, life was okay, but just okay. But now there is a light, a warmth, a passion, a radiance, a vibrancy to life that truly, is impossible to explain. Because in this Jesus, the Son of God, the more I get to know Him, the more He reveals Himself to me, the more the glory of God shines in my heart.

And God, He wants to shine in your heart too, to give you the light of the knowledge of His glory in the face of Jesus Christ.
