Living in Fear

1 Corinthians 15:57,58 But we thank God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! So, my dear brothers and sisters, stand strong. Don’t let anything change you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord. You know that your work in the Lord is never wasted.

It’s amazing how many times throughout the Bible, God says to us “Fear not!” Don’t be afraid. And it’s equally amazing to me, how many of God’s people live in a constant state of fear and anxiety.

We actually don’t like being afraid. “I love being afraid,” said no one, ever! And whilst fear is a perfectly good and reasonable short-term response to a threat, when it becomes a constant sense of foreboding, it’s like a cancer that eats away at you from the inside. It destroys your life.

Whether the thing that you’re afraid of is threat to your faith or to your life, whether it’s your outer life or your inner life that’s being threatened, what I see happening around the world, is that so many Christians are starting to think like victims, to behave like victims, instead of living in the victory that Jesus purchased for them through His death on the Cross and His resurrection. Too many of Christ’s followers are living as though somehow, they’ve been defeated.

I wonder if you know anyone like that, hmm?

If fear is something that you’re dealing with right at the moment, then today, I have some good news for you. Some fantastic news, actually!

Wherever you live, whatever your circumstances, however your life or your faith are being threatened today, if you believe in Jesus, you have victory in Him. Today. Here and now. Get on and live your life, serve the Lord.

Your King reigns!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
