Low Self Esteem

Galatians 2:20 I am not the one living now—it is Christ living in me. I still live in my body, but I live by faith in the Son of God. He is the one who loved me and gave himself to save me.

As you look back on the life journey that you’ve travelled so far, what has it taught you about what you’re worth in this world? As you weigh up your worth compared to the value of those around you, what conclusion do you come to?

The other night I spent a few hours with some students at a Bible College where I teach. We had a tutorial. Their assignment had been to look at someone’s life – someone they knew who seemed to be having real problems in their lives – and then just come and talk about those problems in the tutorial.

And it was uncanny. As each student spoke about a friend or family member, it just came back to the same root cause again and again.

Each of the people we chatted about had a deep sense of worthlessness. Each one! I was completely blown away, although I guess I shouldn’t have been.

Because we live in a society where, on the one hand, we’re fed this lie that we, you and I, are at the centre of the universe – it’s all about making numero uno happy – but on the other, we’re thrown on the scrap heap as soon as we don’t measure up to the images of success that the world dangles under our noses.

Enter … a distorted, confused sense of self-worth.

So what are you really worth?

Galatians 2:20
I am not the one living now—it is Christ living in me. I still live in my body, but I live by faith in the Son of God. He is the one who loved me and gave himself to save me.

You’re worth what God was prepared to pay for you … and that’s a price so high that we can’t even begin to comprehend it.

The price He paid was the life of Jesus, His Son which makes you priceless!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.

John 17 is my Lord’s prayer. So refreshing to know that He thought I was worth saving, no matter what life or the enemy wants me to believe. I choose to believe the report of my God, bless His holy name.
