No Law

Romans 3:22-25 Everyone is the same. All have sinned and are not good enough to share God’s divine greatness. They are made right with God by his grace. This is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ. God gave Jesus as a way to forgive people’s sins through their faith in him. God can forgive them because the blood sacrifice of Jesus pays for their sins.

Sadly, many people today – most people today – will skate on through Easter without giving its meaning a second thought. Why is that so sad, so tragic? Because the decision that each one of us makes about Jesus is going to have a massive impact on how we spend eternity.

The notion of right and wrong isn’t all that popular these days. I saw a bumper sticker recently that said, “There are no rules” and that’s pretty much how people want to live.

But just imagine for a moment what a society without rules and consequences would look like. You don’t have to look very far to see just how brutal people can be when they think there are no consequences.

It’s easy to look at God and think “Old man, big stick, a bunch of old rules that none of us can live up to.” But God created this fantastic world. He breathed life into us. He gave us a free will – the choice to choose Him or reject Him. That’s love. That’s God.

Yet at the end of the day there are consequences. Justice goes hand in hand with love. So does forgiveness. That’s why He sent His Son Jesus to pay the price for all our failures. And whoever believes in Him will receive eternal life.

One day we’ll all stand before Him and on that day the choice we make today will have consequences.

Thanks again, Berni, for these really insightful messages. BTW, the format of the web page has changed to “mobile” layout for the last couple of days, making it more difficult to view on a normal computer screen. Is that something that can be fixed?
Bless you, keep them coming!
