Over and Over Again

Philippians 3:1 And now, my brothers and sisters, be filled with joy in the Lord. It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again. I want to be sure that you are prepared.

There have been times in my life (and no doubt, in yours too) where the joy of the Lord seems to have evaporated. Jesus said and did all that He said and did to make our joy complete. Hmph! What joy?!

There’s nothing quite so wonderfully empowering as the joy of the Lord. While happiness is merely an emotional response to outward circumstances – things go well, we’re happy; they don’t, we’re sad – the joy of the Lord is like a fountain of living water that springs up from within, not because we’ve been able somehow to fabricate it but because, for anyone who believes in Jesus, out of the very centre of their being will flow rivers of living water, amen?

Now, I can say that to you and it may have some impact. But when God says it to you through His Word, the Holy Spirit will remind you and refresh you in ways that the words of men could never do.

Philippians 3:1 And now, my brothers and sisters, be filled with joy in the Lord. It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again. I want to be sure that you are prepared.

I feel much the same as the Apostle Paul here. I often circle back to chatting with you about the joy of the Lord so that you’re prepared for all that this life will throw at you.

It’s not that there aren’t other things that we could have talked about today. It’s just that the joy of the Lord is so important, so wonderful, … so it’s absolutely no trouble for me to double back and bring this Scripture to your remembrance.

The joy of the Lord is your strength. And I want to be sure that you’re good to go!

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
