Take the Step

John 20:28 "My Lord and my God!"

I don’t know where you are in your faith journey, whether you’ve taken the step of giving your life to Christ, or not. But wherever you are, there’s something important that you can do, today.

Some people go a whole lifetime, vaguely believing in God, but never actually taking that step of putting their trust in Him. And even if you’ve taken that step … it’s easy for that faith to grow cold, to drift away from that warm, intimate, powerful relationship that you once had with Him.

Wherever you’re at, I wonder whether we couldn’t pray this prayer together today, right now:

Heavenly Father, you know that I believe in Jesus. But my life’s been kind of bumping along, drifting. Today, I want to draw close to you. Today I want to trust my life into your hands.

Lord Jesus I accept you as my Saviour. I believe that you died and rose again so that my sins would be forgiven and to give me a new life. An eternal life.

I accept you as the Lord of my life. Everything that I am, everything that I have, every hope and every dream I give to you. To do your will. I know that it’ll be hard some days. But fill me now with your Holy Spirit. Fill me with the desire and the power to live my life for you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

If you’ve just prayed that prayer with me, you’ve taken a huge step, a bit like Thomas the disciple, who, when he met the risen Jesus said:

John 20:28 “My Lord and my God!”

Jesus came to save you, and now that you’ve prayed this prayer, He has. Now … let Him be the Lord of your life. Live every day, every breath, every step, for Him.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
