That Feeling of Despondency
Revelation 5:6-8 Then I saw a Lamb standing in the centre near the throne with the four living beings around it. The elders were also around the Lamb. The Lamb looked as if it had been killed. It had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God that were sent into all the world. The Lamb came and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne. After the Lamb took the scroll, the four living beings and the 24 elders bowed down before the Lamb. Each one of them had a harp. Also, they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s holy people. And they all sang a new song to the Lamb …
To tell you the truth, I’ve stopped watching the evening news on the television. It’s just too depressing. You get to the end and you wonder, where’s this all headed?
With all that’s going on in the world, the terrible things that we see on the news each night, all that stuff out there that’s so far out of our control, it’s easy to become despondent about it all. It’s as though the world’s heading to hell in a handbag, and there’s nothing that you and I can do about it.
Where is this world headed? How can I make a difference? How can my faith stay strong? How’s it all going to end?
They’re the questions that rattle around inside as we feel that growing sense of despondency. So … what’s the answer?
Simply this: Jesus is still on His throne. And one day, He will bring all these things to an end. A glorious end, as only He can.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
