The Healing Business
Matthew 9:35 Jesus travelled through all the towns and villages. He taught in their synagogues and told people the Good News about God’s kingdom. He healed all kinds of diseases and sicknesses.
If someone you loved was sick – I mean really sick – would you ask Jesus to heal them? Well, would you? Or is the powerful reality of Jesus’ healing something that you don’t really believe in?
There have been some amazing advances in medicine these past decades. Things that once required major surgery have become minor day procedures, and there are so many medicines these days to cure diseases that were once incurable.
Amazing. And yet, we still don’t know how the mind works or how the memory works or how to cure the common cold or … in fact, we still don’t know a whole bunch of things. The human body, soul and spirit is such a complex creation.
And yet time after time, two thousand years ago before any of the basic medical science that we take for granted was ever dreamt of …

Did He really? Well, the evidence is pretty overwhelming, you’d have to say. People would bring their sick from miles around and He’d heal them, or cast out their demons, or whatever else they needed from Him. That’s why He was able to draw such large crowds. That’s why people pressed in on Him when He came to town.
The question is though, is He still in the healing business today? Well, the Jesus I know is. No, I’ll grant you, He doesn’t heal everybody. Why? I have no idea.
But I’ve seen enough people prayed over and healed to know that if someone I loved was sick, I’d certainly ask Him to heal them.
Don’t be afraid to ask. Jesus still heals – body, soul and spirit.
