The Impossible is Possible

Matthew 17:20 Believe me when I tell you, if your faith is only as big as a mustard seed you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. You will be able to do anything.

Why is it that the moment we decide to step out in faith, to follow the call, the dream that God has placed on our hearts, that we run into some insurmountable obstacle to put us off our game. Why is that?

One of the reasons that so many people who love Jesus, who believe in Jesus, don’t go on to live the life that God has planned for them is that there are obstacles in the road – obstacles that seem completely insurmountable. And that stops them dead in their tracks.

When you’re sitting on your sofa dreaming about the amazing things that God will do through you one day, you feel completely invincible. Unstoppable. Dreams are like that. But the moment you step out into that dream, you run into some problem, some obstacle.

Hang on, that’s not how the dream goes. That wasn’t supposed to happen. Of course it was. That’s exactly what happens. A man by the name of Armin Gesswein once said this: When God is about to do something great, He starts with a difficulty. When He is about to do something truly magnificent, He starts with an impossibility!

Jesus put it like this:

Matthew 17:20 Believe me when I tell you, if your faith is only as big as a mustard seed you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. You will be able to do anything.

Get a revelation. Those impossibilities are God’s opportunity to shine His glory into this world. Our natural tendency is to look at the obstacle after banging our head against it for a while, and tell ourselves it’s impossible to overcome.

Meanwhile, God’s simply waiting for us to take Him at His Word: if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you’ll be able to do anything.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
