The Mighty Word of God
John 16:13-15 But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will lead you into all truth. He will not speak his own words. He will speak only what he hears and will tell you what will happen in the future. The Spirit of truth will bring glory to me by telling you what he receives from me. All that the Father has is mine. That is why I said that the Spirit will tell you what he receives from me.
As we become more technically savvy and sophisticated, it can be confounding to realise that things that we may consider to be old-fashioned, are just as powerful today, as they were back when. Things like, reading your Bible. Oh please …
When you’re stuck in a tough spot, what you need is both the power and the wisdom to get you out of it.
Power – that’s the Holy Spirit, right? But without the wisdom to help us play our part in whatever needs to be done, all the power in the world isn’t going to make a difference. And that’s where the Holy Spirit comes in yet again.
God’s gone to a lot of trouble to have people write the sixty-six books of the Bible and to preserve it down through the centuries. And it’s not just a bunch of words. It’s the living Word of the living God, sharper than any two-edged sword, inspired by the Holy Spirit. And when you read God’s Word, receive God’s Word, reflect on God’s Word, the Holy Spirit lifts the words off the page, and writes them on your heart. This is how Jesus put it:
John 16:13-15 But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will lead you into all truth. He will not speak his own words. He will speak only what he hears and will tell you what will happen in the future. The Spirit of truth will bring glory to me by telling you what he receives from me. All that the Father has is mine. That is why I said that the Spirit will tell you what he receives from me.
Want wisdom? Open your Bible. Let the Spirit speak to you. There’s more wisdom in those pages and by His power, than you or I will ever need.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
