The Power to be Like God

2 Peter 1:3,4 Jesus has the power of God. And his power has given us everything we need to live a life devoted to God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus chose us by his glory and goodness, through which he also gave us the very great and rich gifts that he promised us. With these gifts you can share in being like God. And so you will escape the ruin that comes to people in the world because of the evil things they want.

You, no doubt, have days when you feel absolutely invincible – on top of the world. And then there are days when you feel powerless. Perhaps you have even more of those than the invincible ones.

The error we all tend to fall into is comparing ourselves with others. Because inevitably, we compare our worst days against an amalgam of their best days – as though somehow, they don’t have any down days.

Which only makes that sense of our powerlessness to be all that God made us to be, to do what He’s calling us to do … even worse. But what if I told you that God’s already given you all you need to live your life devoted to Him; to be more like Him?

Actually, I could tell you that and it wouldn’t make one iota of difference to your life. But when God speaks those truths into your heart … man, what great power He unleashes!

Through Jesus you have everything you need to live your life devoted to God. The power to be more and more like Him. Such great riches! So … stop comparing. Live in His power.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
