Time is Slipping Away

Romans 13:10,11 Love doesn’t hurt others. So loving is the same as obeying all the law. I say this because you know that we live in an important time. Yes, it is now time for you to wake up from your sleep. Our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

How much time do you have left to love the people around you? When will your last hug of a loved one be? The answer is, we just don’t know. Which means that love should be our highest priority.

It’s an unsettling thought, isn’t it? Lives often come to an end so abruptly – in many cases, without warning. One day, I’ll kiss my wife Jacqui, I’ll hug her, for the last time. And then bang, one of us will be gone. The same’s true for the loved ones in your life.

And not just the loved ones. Even the people who get under your skin, the people who annoy you. One day your relationship with them will end. What a tragedy it would be, if you hadn’t taken every opportunity to show them love while you were still able.

Romans 13:10,11 Love doesn’t hurt others. So loving is the same as obeying all the law. I say this because you know that we live in an important time. Yes, it is now time for you to wake up from your sleep. Our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

We do indeed live in an important time; a time of trial, a time of conflict, a time of ever-widening, ever-deepening schisms both in society at large and in our personal relationships. So, here it is. Here’s your wakeup call:

Yes, it is now time for you to wake up from your sleep.

Those relationships you’ve perhaps been neglecting, those people you’ve perhaps been hurting … love them. Because loving them is the same as obeying God’s law. Love them. Because the end is closer, perhaps much closer, than when you first believed.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
