Walking Round the Track
John 3:16 Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him would not be lost but have eternal life.
I’ll be honest with you. For the first thirty-six years of my life, I barely gave this whole Christianity thing much of a thought … except to poke fun at those nutty Christians out there who believed in God. How about you? How seriously are you taking this whole Jesus thing?
Speaking as someone who sits on his backside for most of each working day, I really love getting out for some exercise. So most mornings I head out early for a brisk walk. There’s a huge park near us with a great walking track. I normally get there just before sunrise, and there’s hardly a soul around.
But pretty soon the place starts to fill up with people walking, running, riding their bikes. Young, old; male, female; tall, short; fat, thin; black, white; good, bad … the most amazing array of people.
But there’s another distinction that’s worth making: lost, found; saved … perishing.
And really, it just doesn’t matter what we each look like on the outside – on the inside, we either know Jesus Christ as the Saviour of our souls and the Lord of our lives, or we don’t. And one day … well, one day that’s the only distinction that’ll matter. It’s the only thing that will separate one from the other.
John 3:16 Yes, God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him would not be lost but have eternal life.
Lost or found. Saved or perishing. That’s the only thing that will matter. Which one are you? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as the Saviour of your soul and the Lord of your life?
If not, do it today. If not, pray a simple prayer, turn your life around, start living it for Jesus.
Because one day, that’s the only thing that will matter.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
