When Glory Fills the Ordinary

Isaiah 6:3 Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!

When was the last time you were truly lost for words – that kind of awe that stops you mid-sentence? Maybe a sunset that lit up the sky, a newborn’s cry, a piece of music that somehow reached right inside your soul. We all have those moments when beauty breaks through the noise – when you sense, even if just for a heartbeat, that there’s something more.

In 1968, astronaut William Anders joined the Apollo 8 mission to orbit the moon. When the spacecraft swung around the lunar surface, he looked out and saw the Earth rising above the horizon – a tiny, fragile blue marble against a vast black sky. He lifted his camera and captured the now-famous photo known as Earthrise.

Later, he said, “We came all this way to explore the moon, and the most important thing we discovered was the Earth.”

That sense of wonder is a window into God’s glory – His beauty shining through creation. The prophet Isaiah once saw a vision of heaven and cried out:

Isaiah 6:3 Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!  ESV

That word “glory” means weight – the tangible presence of God pressing into ordinary things. So if perhaps you’ve lost your wonder, slow down. Look for His fingerprints on the world around you – in colour, laughter, kindness, forgiveness.

Because the glory of God isn’t just up there in heaven. It’s right here – woven through every ordinary moment, waiting for you to notice.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
