Your Future Doesn’t Have to Look Like Your Past
James 1:5 Do any of you need wisdom? Ask God for it. He is generous and enjoys giving to everyone. So he will give you wisdom.
When you stop and think about it, most of our problems in life don’t just come out of nowhere. They’re connected to a decision we’ve made, a decision we’re avoiding, or a boundary we won’t set. It’s not fun to admit, but it’s true.
Antarctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott’s ambition to be the first to reach the South Pole was legendary. But ambition alone doesn’t guarantee success. He ignored good advice, rejected more efficient transport methods, overloaded his sledges, and pushed his men harder than was wise.
They arrived at the Pole only to discover that the Norwegians had beaten them to it. And on the way back, every single one of them froze to death. Wrong decisions. No boundaries. And the cost was everything.
Dramatic, yes … but a salutary tale about some of the bad decisions you and I have made along the way, too.

Fact: your decisions matter, your boundaries matter and the choices you avoid matter most of all. But here’s the good news: you’re not left on your own.
God doesn’t stand at a distance shaking His head. Instead, He leans in close, offering wisdom, strength and the courage to choose differently.
So today, let me ask you: what’s the one decision you’ve been dodging, the one boundary you’ve been too afraid to set? Take it to God. Because with His wisdom, the future doesn’t have to look like your past.
