Keep Your Eyes on the Prize
1 Corinthians 15:20 But Christ really has been raised from death–the first one of all those who will be raised.
When our lives fall apart, hope is usually the first casualty. The dream dies, the light fades, the silence feels final. But in God’s story, even the grave isn’t the end – it’s merely the turning of a page.
In 2010, Chilean miner Luis Urzúa and 32 of his colleagues were trapped underground for 69 days after a mine collapse. For weeks, no one knew if they were alive. Temperatures soared, food ran low, and darkness swallowed every hour.
Yet Urzúa rallied the men, rationed supplies, led daily prayers. When rescuers finally reached them, the first note they sent up read: “We are well in the shelter, all 33.” Hope – buried alive – had survived.
And an even greater hope beats at the heart of the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. After He was crucified, His followers thought it was all over. Their dreams died with Him on that cross. But three days later, the impossible happened.
1 Corinthians 15:20 … Christ really has been raised from death – the first one of all those who will be raised.
The resurrection means that pain isn’t permanent, loss isn’t final, death doesn’t have the final word.
So when your world collapses and everything goes dark, remember: the stone rolled away once, and it still rolls today. Hold on to the hope of the resurrection. Let it shape how you face tomorrow, how you forgive, how you endure.
Because glory always follows the cross – and the same power that raised Jesus is already at work raising you.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
