The Power of Faith

Mark 5:28-34 She thought, “If I can just touch his clothes, that will be enough to heal me.” As soon as she touched his coat, her bleeding stopped. She felt that her body was healed from all the suffering. Jesus immediately felt power go out from him, so he stopped and turned around. “Who touched my clothes?” he asked. The followers said to Jesus, “There are so many people pushing against you. But you ask, ‘Who touched me?’” But Jesus continued looking for the one who touched him. The woman knew that she was healed, so she came and bowed at Jesus’ feet. She was shaking with fear. She told Jesus the whole story. He said to her, “Dear woman, you are made well because you believed. Go in peace. You will not suffer anymore.”

When you live in a world that values appearance, status and success, it’s all too easy to imagine that God can’t be bothered with us because He’s much too busy helping those who are worth more to Him than we could ever possibly be.

Yep, absolutely … it is so easy to get the wrong impression of God, to imagine that He’s very much like everyone else!

So let’s join Jesus again as He’s being followed by a huge crowd. Remember, one of the people in the crowd is that woman, the one who’s unclean, the one who’s pretty much a social outcast, the one whose name we’re never told. But she’s heard about this Jesus who heals. Anyhow, what does she have to lose after twelve years of pain and suffering?

Think about it. Her faith laid hold of His power, despite her status.

Don’t ever imagine that Jesus doesn’t have time for you, that He couldn’t be bothered with the likes of you. What impresses Him isn’t position or status, but simple faith. Your faith.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
