Weird Faith

Deuteronomy 8:2 And you must remember the entire trip that the LORD your God has led you through these 40 years in the desert. He was testing you. He wanted to make you humble. He wanted to know what is in your heart. He wanted to know if you would obey his commands.

I was listening recently to a man – Tim – telling his life story. He had a real heart to follow after God, so he set up a business to do just that … but God seemed to lead him into dark, lonely places. Places of real hardship, right down to food parcels left on his front porch.

Why was God letting this happen? Did He know what He was doing to this man with a heart to follow God? Did He even care?

But as Tim’s story unfolded, as I heard how those seemingly bad things had turned out for good, as I saw the humble, passionate, optimistic heart beating inside this man – you could see just how the mighty hand of God had been on his life.

And you must remember the entire trip that the LORD your God has led you through these 40 years in the desert. He was testing you. He wanted to make you humble. He wanted to know what is in your heart. He wanted to know if you would obey his commands. (Deuteronomy 8:2)

God’s thoughts aren’t always our thoughts. His ways aren’t always our ways. And often times, He’s far more interested in forging our character, than He is in our comfort. God is far more interested in testing our mettle, in discovering what’s really in our hearts, than He is in guiding us along some easy path.

And yet all along, He protects and provides, even if that means food parcels on your front porch.

God wants to know what’s in your heart. He wants to know if, even under pressure, you’ll still obey His commands.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.

Hi Berni
Thank you very much for this inspirational and comforting message.
I can really relate to Tim right now as I am a real estate agent going through a really tough season at the moment, and understand that its part of God’s plan for me and that it has done a lot to bring me closer to God and change the way I see things daily.
Thank you once again for an awesome program
