When Money Can’t Fix It
Mark 8:36-37 It is worth nothing for you to have the whole world if you yourself are lost. You could never pay enough to buy back your life.
Be honest – has money ever really met your deepest need, that one thing aching deep inside? You finally get to buy the thing you wanted, pay off the debt, land the job … and for a while, it feels great. But then that quiet emptiness creeps back in. You start to wonder – Is this all there is?
Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple, unquestionably changed the world through technology, building an empire worth billions. Yet near the end of his life, as cancer overtook his body, he wrote that wealth “can only fill a small part of life,” and that true happiness doesn’t come from success, but from love and purpose.
Canadian entrepreneur and business podcaster, Scott D. Clary, came to a similar conclusion when he said this: “What building wealth taught me: Money solves money problems. That’s it. Not happiness problems. Not relationship problems. Not meaning problems. Most people expect money to fix everything. It fixes exactly one category of problems.”
Mark 8:36-37 It is worth nothing for you to have the whole world if you yourself are lost. You could never pay enough to buy back your life.
Sure, money can make life easier. But it can’t heal guilt or restore peace, or fill the emptiness that success leaves behind. Because what your heart truly longs for isn’t more – it’s Jesus. And once you have Him, you finally realise you already have everything.
Money cannot solve your problems, fill the void, heal your wounds. Only Jesus can.
It is worth nothing for you to have the whole world if you yourself are lost. You could never pay enough to buy back your life.
That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
